ELIGIBILITY
Residency:
A resident of any state / any country can compete in any of the South Dakota Local City or State Senior Game events.
The top three finishers from South Dakota in each event qualify to participate in the same event at the National Senior Games held every other year on odd-numbered years.
Age Groups:
Single and team events will be administered by gender (men and women) and by age group in five year increments:
50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-59, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99, and 100+
Some team events (mixed bowling) will also be held by age group.
EVENTS
Recreational:
Events may require some special skills, but they are not usually very physically demanding:
- Archery
- Badminton
- Basketball (Individual Free Throws and Field Goals)
- Bean Bag Toss
- Bowling (Single and Mixed Doubles)
- Disk Golf (18 hole)
- Golf (9 and 18 hole)
- Horseshoes
- Pool (8 ball)
- Shuffleboard
- Softball Throw
- Table Tennis (ping pong)
Rigorous:
Events may require some special skills, and are very physically demanding:
- Basketball (3x3 Team Game)
- Cycling
- Jump Rope
- Racquetball
- Swimming
- Softball (Team Game)
- Tennis (Single and Doubles)
- Track (Race Walking, Sprints, Distance Running)
- Field Events (Hammer Throw, High jump, Javelin, Long jump (Running and Standing), Shotput, Triple Jump)
- Volleyball (Team Game)
