South Dakota Senior Games

Association (SDSGA)

In 1984, the Division of Adult Services and Aging of the South Dakota Department of Social Services, established the South Dakota Senior Games to encourage seniors to become involved in physical exercise.  The games have served as a significant motivation for thousands of seniors over the age of 50 to engage in physical activity.

Senior participants from across the state form the Senior Games Board of Directors.  The Board establishes rules and regulations, and establishes a means for financing and developing local city games.  They also were empowered to appoint an Executive Director to carry out the mandates of the Board.

In 1997, the South Dakota Senior Games qualified as an exempt organization under Section 501 © (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
