South Dakota Senior Games

Association (SDSGA)

In 1984, the Division of Adult Services and Aging of the South Dakota Department of Social Services, established the South Dakota Senior Games to encourage seniors to become involved in, as well as maintain physical exercise.  The games have served as a very significant motivation for hundreds of seniors, over the age of 50 to engage in physical activity as they prepare to participate in local and statewide events.

A Senior Games Board of Directors  is made-up of senior participants from across the state.  The board establishes rules and regulations for the various events, and establishes a means for financing and developing local games.  They also were empowered to appoint an Executive Director to carry out the mandates of the Board.

In 1997, the South Dakota Senior Games qualified as an exempt organization under Section 501 © (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.
